'Good grief' opens its UK tour at the Theatre Royal Bath from Tuesday 25th September to Saturday 29th September prior to a West End transfer. The cast features Penelope Keith, Christopher Ravenscroft, Jonathan Firth and Flora Montgomery, directed by Tom Littler.
Adapted by Keith Waterhouse from his own best-selling comic novel, Good Grief tells the story of June Pepper, the recently bereaved widow of the editor of a tabloid newspaper, who discovers there is far more to life than death.
Following her late husband’s instructions to keep a journal of her feelings, June concludes that grieving is not the straightforward process she had imagined…especially when she finds herself surprisingly drawn to a stranger she sees wearing her husband’s suit!
Good Grief features a sparkling combination of wry humour and poignancy which characterised Keith Waterhouse’s extensive writing.
One of Britain’s best-loved actresses, Penelope Keith plays the role of June Pepper; she returns to the play after originally starring in the world premiere production of Good Grief in 1998.
Christopher Ravenscroft appears as The Suit.
Jonathan Firth plays the role of Eric.
The cast is completed by Flora Montgomery who plays the role of Pauline.
